In the next episode of The Script Reporter podcast, Joshua chats with Ian Reichbach, current Story Editor on The Newsroom and researcher/assistant to legendary scribe and recent Oscar winner, Aaron Sorkin (The Newsroom, The Social Network). Reichbach began his writing career as a child when he and his sister Emily sent in story ideas to the popular Canadian kids show, You Can’t Do That On Television. The producers liked their ideas so much, he received a writing credit for an episode in 1987. Reichbach started working with Sorkin on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and has been with him ever since. A computer programmer by trade (though he quit that profession to join Sorkin and pursue his own writing career full time), Reichbach helped Sorkin understand computers and geek culture during the writing of The Social Network and has graduated to a “seat at the table” (he’ll explain) as Story Editor on the current HBO series, The Newsroom, starring Jeff Daniels.
