Thursday, June 21 – Joshua talks with the screenwriter of the summer film “Snow White & the Huntsman,” Evan Daugherty, and the executive director of Script Pipeline, Chad Clough.
Evan Daugherty made industry headlines when his spec script of “Snow White & the Huntsman” ended up in a bidding war between studios, with Roth Films winning out offering Daugherty a deal worth $3.2 million, making it one of the most lucrative spec sales in recent history. But before success hit, Daugherty was typing away and submitting his scripts to competitions. He submitted and ended up being one of four grand prize winners of the 2008 Script Pipeline competition with his screenplay “Shrapnel.” The competition win helped land Daugherty representation and and a writing gig with Warner Bros.
Chad Clough, executive director of Script Pipeline, will join the show and talk about what Script Pipeline is all about and how they find and nurture writing talent like Daugherty for film and television work.
“Killing Season” (formerly “Shrapnel”), now in post-production, is directed by Mark Steven Johnson and stars Robert De Niro and John Travolta. It’s slated for a 2013 release.
