It is difficult to imagine a composer that knows how to perfectly define moments on film with music, yet each time I watch a film scored by Deborah Lurie, I realize her abilities as a composer give her the great gift of creating movie magic. Blending a perfect balance of melody and color, Deborah Lurie has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry. She has served as a string arranger for dozens of pop artists in addition to providing additional music for scores composed by Danny Elfman, Christopher Young, and John Ottman. In our special Episode 4 of FilmTracks, we will dive into her creative process – what inspires her, and how she continues to have a unique voice in the composing world. Highlights include Footloose, 9, An Unfinished Life, and her string arrangements to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri from the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtrack.
